Krannert Center: We Are For Art.
You might have seen this message recently around town, in subtle or way-out ways—in participatory chalk drawings on downtown streets, on glowing cards handed out at street events by a silent man wearing an LED suit, on hundreds of yard signs inviting readers to "Vote for Art."

It's the core message of the Fireswallow Project, a heretofore-anonymous group which has spurred a lot of recent creative expression in Champaign-Urbana, celebrating art wherever it happens—in the streets, on the stage, and out of the blue—sharing a passion for art that touches the heart, the mind, and the soul.

If that mission sounds familiar, it should—it's also core to what Krannert Center is about. For the past several months, Krannert Center has teamed up with Spinlight Studio, 40 North/88 West, and a corps of local artists to create and fly the Fireswallow Project, with a myriad of surprising Art Attacks to stir consciousness of the arts in us and around us, in ordinary and extraordinary settings, in planned and off-the-cuff experiences.

At Krannert Center's Opening Night party, Thursday, September 18, Fireswallow arrived at the Center. The architects and artists of the project helped us to all celebrate the spirit of the arts alive in this community.

Snap it. Send it. See it here.
Attach a few hundred LEDs to a guy and people tend to take notice. And a whole lot of pictures. If you've posed with Particle Man, or witnessed another Art Attack in Action, send us your photos and join in on the act as we light up the city with the passion and power of art.
